Umpires are paid on the field: 8U & 10U have one umpire ($35 per team per game) and 12U & 14U have two umpires ($70 per team per game).
What are the dates of the league? ▸
The regular season starts on 3/29. The league plays on:
- Sunday 3/29
- Saturday 4/4
- Sunday 4/12
- Sunday 4/19
- Sunday 4/26
- Sunday 5/3 (make-ups)
- Single-elimination playoffs: 5/9 (Sat) & 5/17
How do I know what age group my girls are eligible to play in? ▸
We follow the 2026 USA Softball Age Chart. You can view it here: 2026 USA Softball Age Chart .
Can I move my games? ▸
The league is scheduled as Sunday double-header games. Teams may move games to any site and any day of the week, as long as both teams agree. If they cannot agree on a day & time, the game will be played at its originally scheduled day and time.
Do I need to get my own umpires? ▸
No. The league takes care of all umpire scheduling and you will have umpire contact information in advance of your games.
Are there playoffs? What do the winners get? ▸
Yes. Teams must play at least 8 games to be eligible for the playoffs. Champions and Runners-Up in each division receive rings.
Can I play my games at my home fields? ▸
Yes. Teams will generally get 4–6 games on their home fields. The exact number of home games depends on the number of teams registered.
What are the team rostering rules? ▸
With the exception of 14U, players must ordinarily represent the town where they live, unless they live in a town that is not fielding a team in this league at their age level.
Players and teams may also seek an exception – which will be freely granted – to play for the town where they play recreation ball, or the town in which they go to school.
All players who do not live in the town they represent must be clearly listed on the team roster, along with the exception they are claiming (rec league participation, school participation).
Do I need any special insurance? ▸
No special insurance is required beyond your standard team insurance. You do need to provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) naming USA Softball NJ D2 as a certificate holder. Your insurer should not charge you for this.
What are the league rules? ▸
The detailed league rules are still being drafted. The divisional chart above provides an indication of what to expect in each division. Final rules will be shared with all registered teams prior to the start of play.
